How to remove the background from an image
Prepare one source image, run background removal, then inspect the transparent PNG before using it.
1. Prepare and upload your image
Choose a JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB, with each side between 256 and 4096 pixels and no more than 16 million pixels in total. Keep the subject clearly visible. You can crop the image or use the original; the file you submit must meet the upload limits.
2. Start background removal
Sign in, check the credits shown in the form, and select Create to submit a background removal task. The tool processes the image automatically, without a prompt or model selection. Follow the task status until processing finishes; completion time can vary.
3. Inspect and download the PNG
Check the subject’s outline, fine lines and gaps for lost details or remaining background. Download the PNG result and, if needed, place it over light and dark backgrounds in an editor to check its transparency and edges. Save the actual file rather than a screenshot.

What image formats, file sizes and dimensions are supported?
Upload a JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 5 MB. Width and height must each be between 256 and 4096 pixels, with no more than 16 million pixels (16 MP) in total. Both conditions apply: a 4096 × 4096 image exceeds the total pixel limit. These requirements apply to the original or cropped file submitted for processing.
Do I need a prompt, a model choice or a manual selection?
No. Upload an image and start background removal; the tool automatically identifies the main subject. You can crop the source image before uploading it, but cropping only changes the input area. This page has no prompt field, model selector, selection brush or manual mask editor.
How many images can I process at once?
Each task processes one image. To remove backgrounds from more images, submit them as separate tasks. There is no batch upload on this page, and each new task uses the credits shown in the form.
Can I remove a white, black or complex background from an image?
You can submit images with white, black, solid-color or more detailed backgrounds. The AI tries to separate the main subject from its surroundings rather than deleting every pixel of a chosen color. Check white objects against a white background, dark edges against a black background, shadows and areas where the subject blends into the scene. Results depend on the source image.
How should I check hair, fur, glass and other fine details?
Inspect the result at a useful zoom level and against both light and dark backgrounds. Look for broken strands, missing edges, colored halos and background left between fine details. Glass, translucent fabric and other partly transparent areas can be difficult to separate. If the result is unsuitable, try a clearer source or a different crop, or refine it in another editor; this page has no manual edge correction.
Can I remove the background from a logo, illustration or signature?
Yes, when it is a JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP within the input limits. To remove a white background from a logo or the background from a signature image, start with clear lines and contrast. Check small letters, thin strokes and enclosed gaps after processing. The output is a PNG image; the tool does not create SVG vectors, redraw the artwork or provide a signing service.
Why does my PNG still look white, black or checkered?
An image viewer may show a white, black or checkered surface behind transparent pixels. Open the downloaded PNG over another background to check whether those areas are actually transparent. A checkerboard saved inside the source image is real image content, and removing it is not guaranteed. Simply renaming a file or converting it to PNG does not remove its background. Download the result file instead of taking a screenshot.
Will the result keep the original dimensions or improve image quality?
Cropping changes the image area submitted for processing and can change its dimensions and file size. This page has no output resolution or upscale setting, and it does not guarantee original dimensions or lossless preservation. Check the downloaded file’s dimensions and details. If you need a larger image, use Image Upscaler as a separate step.
Can I add a white or new background, or remove only one object?
This page automatically removes the background around the main subject. It has no background-color control or brush for choosing a single object to erase. To add a white background, place the transparent PNG on a white layer in a design editor. For a different scene, continue in an editor or Image to Image. Removing a watermark from an image is a separate task in Image Watermark Remover.
How long does processing take, and what if the result is unsuitable?
Follow the task status; processing time varies with service load and there is no fixed completion time. If a task fails, read the error and check the input requirements before submitting again. A completed task can still have unwanted visual details. In that case, review the source image or crop, or use another editor. Check the credits before starting a new task.
Is the background remover free, and how are credits used?
You need to sign in and have enough credits to start a task. Background removal currently has a fixed credit cost per image, shown in the form before submission. If your account has available promotional credits, you can use them according to their terms. Check your balance and the displayed cost; this is not an unlimited free service.
How are my images processed, stored and used for training?
Under VidGen’s Privacy Policy, uploaded content is not used to train our own proprietary AI models. Processing may involve third-party AI providers, whose own privacy policies and service terms apply. Uploads and results are retained according to the Privacy Policy and the service’s retention rules, rather than stored permanently. Download any results you need to keep.
